Name
recognition: that's what those giant billboard ads and full-color magazine
spreads are trying to build. Name recognition sells because people fall back on
the things that are familiar. You can cash in on this tendency, too —and spend
nothing more than your time and photocopying costs.
Start by writing a short article that
offers a set of tips related to your business or industry and post it on your
website, blog, other websites, everywhere!.
Remember you're the expert on this
topic. Pick a catchy title. One that promises secrets, numbers and reasons. For
example:
- "7
things to know before going on a white-water rafting vacation"... Or
- "Five tips to preparing for a family scuba-diving trip"
... Or maybe...
- "7 tips to avoid before installing geothermal
systems"... Or how about...
- “9
steps to installing your solar panel system”.
Don't overtly sell your business.
But make references to it at the end of your article. Many
people who never read ads will read an article, especially one that promises a
tangible benefit.
